Flames of the unknown

In Philosophy, Science on July 27, 2009 at 9:14 pm

It is said that there are two realms: that which we can observe, and that which we cannot.  These realms are constantly in flux around us as we turn corners, open drawers, discover new methods of self-annihilation, etc.  Much like the edge of the Mandelbrot set, the border between that which is known and that which is unknown is the most turbulent.  It is a beach packed with tide pools where lies vast kinetic energy, as the waves of the Unknown continually and dynamically wash over us.  It is in these zones that we both obsess and fear, for they are infinitely complex and tangled.

One such tide pool is the paradox of Schrödinger’s Cat.  It is both alive and dead at once, inside its box, existing between both quantum states.  It exists; and it surely knows if it is alive–yet we, as outside observers, do not know.  We cannot know until we look into the box.  Until then, the cat is a ghost–neither alive nor dead.  And having put the cat there in the first place, we have created the paradox.  And the cat is surely conscious up until its demise.  Does it know that it has become a ghost?  Does it know when it had become a ghost?  Surely it does not, for it is intrinsically observing its own closed system.  But what of its dreams? Exposure to ‘This Heat’

In Reviews on July 11, 2009 at 3:54 pm

‘This Heat’.  They ooze creepiness and intensity to level 9000.  No one liked them when they around in the early 80’s. Too bad for the early 80’s..

Behold the Creepiness!!!!

How the FUCK are they getting that sound with the vocals?

Part 2:

hold out for the breakdown, where it gets broken down…

Part 3:

the Drummer (Charles Hayward) is ROCKING YOU.

Hidden Number live at Sunset Tavern, 4pm Sunday July 19th, 2009

The title sez it all.  Yet, dare I also mention that we’re  opening for My Bones and Organs and The Keeper?!  I dare.  Note the very excellent time on Sunday, which will give everyone plenty of time to get home so that they write that important report due Monday.  Please include charts and graphs.  How else will you stay competitive in this economic climate?  We are staying competitive by throwing in some Misfits songs in our set.

Dare I also direct you to a top notch video of our Tom Petty cover of “Don’t Come Around Here No More” posted by Chris?  Double dared.

We at Hidden Number hope your Independence Day (or plain vanilla Saturday) was a festive occasion.  A few of us spent time on the very boat from whence came Manos de Plata’s  brand new album, and watched the Seattle fireworks bobbing upon the waters of Lake Union.  We stood in the very chamber in the belly of the Sea Devil, and I double dog dare say that the reverb was palpable.  I hope you appreciate that the next time you listen.
